In Europa Universalis II, the Reformation is a scripted event enabling the Protestant religion, which occurs sometime from 1515 through 1526. (Specifically, it occurs randomly on one of the 4000 days from Jan 1, 1515, to Feb 9, 1526.) In real history, the Reformation is generally thought to have started on 31st October 1517, when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany. See the wikipedia entry for the Protestant Reformation.
Effects of the Reformation Edit
The advent of the Reformation has the following effects:
- It immediately converts all provinces which are encoded in province.csv as being Protestant to Protestant. Unless, of course, they have already been converted (this is possible because an event changes Bohemia's state religion to Protestant in 1419). There are 55 such provinces, covering most of Germany, all of Scandinavia, and the majority of England.
- It enables Catholic countries to voluntarily change their state religion to Protestant.
- It adds a fourth religious tolerance slider to Catholic and Orthodox countries. Don't forget to adjust your tolerance when it happens.
- It adds a fifth religious tolerance slider to Sunni and Shi'ite countries.
